Hiking

Pack 384 has a very active hiking program. The BSA and Pack 384 believes that a core component of Cub Scouts should be outdoor activities. As such we have monthly Pack sponsored hikes that are lead by our Hiking Coordinators.

Hikes are done at varying locations around the Oswego/Naperville/Yorkville area. All scouts are encouraged to attend.

Hiking Awards

The following is a listing of the different hiking award milestones and what is received:

  • First Hike: Round “Miles Hiked” patch
  • 5 Miles: “Five” rocker patch for around the “Miles Hiked” patch
  • 10 Miles: “Ten” rocker patch for around the “Miles Hiked” patch
  • 20 Miles: “Twenty” rocker patch for around the “Miles Hiked” patch
  • 25 Miles: Scat (animal poop) identification scarf
  • 30 Miles: “Thirty” rocker patch for around the “Miles Hiked” patch
  • 40 Miles: “Forty” rocker patch for around the “Miles Hiked” patch
  • 50 Miles: Hiking staff with leather grip and a special “50 Miles Hiked” patch
  • 60, 70, 80, and 90 Miles: Each earn a different colored Bear Claw that can be attached to the hiking staff.
  • 100 Miles: Map Compass and a special “100 Miles Hiked” patch
  • 110, 120, 130, and 140 Miles:  Each a different colored Eagle Claw that can be attached to the hiking staff.
